Erin McMorris_tcm72-55946Every Tuesday, we blog about the “People Behind the Packs.” We want to introduce you to the members of our family and our other partners, all of whom are working together to bring you what we hope is the best product of its kind on the market. Today, we’d like you to meet one of our favorite textile designers

How good a product is begins with the main ingredients, or– in our case– the raw materials.  You can’t put lipstick on a pig, and a handmade product is only as good as what went into it. So we don’t cut corners on fabric. Always made in America, Flaxie Packs are sewn from 100% cotton fabric from some of the country’s leading textile designers.

One of my favorites is Erin McMorris. Erin grew up in Northwest Ohio around fabric, quilts, and art– so she always knew her fate would be connected to the those handmade things. She graduated with a degree in graphic design at the University of Cincinnati, and then decided to blend her love of art and fabric by completing a textile design degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. I love her Sommersault collection, and was happy to include her Pinwheels fabric in our Flaxie Pack collection.
She has doodled, drawn, and designed in London, San Francisco, and New York and currently designs from her home in Portland, Oregon. Her patterns have popped up on a variety of products, including bedding, women’s and children’s apparel, paper products and towels for companies such as Jo-Ann Stores, Lands’ End, Target, Macy’s, The Children’s Place, Ann Taylor, and GapKids.
