The oldest of the 3 girls in our blended family, Kate was born to be a teacher—and she has made that happen. For the past 13 years, she has been in the classroom, to her deep satisfaction and—if I might say so myself– the great joy of hundreds of students and families. She’s had wonderful mentors and many gifted colleagues, but she was a natural in the classroom from Day One.
She and her husband live in north Frederick County, just a few miles from the PA line, with their two school-age kids. After a completely suburban upbringing, Kate has come a long way handling the rigors of country life. She assists with dressing the deer her husband brings home once a year for the family table, just harvested a bumper crop of berries, and doesn’t shudder (much) at having to handle the occasional snake, mouse, raccoon or groundhog that crosses her path. (You can tell I am in awe.)
Fortunately for our fledgling business, Kate has a great eye through the lens. She spent one very long Sunday late last spring taking a lot of the product photos you see on the Flaxie Packs web site.
She’s also one of the most outgoing in our family. She has the same remarkable way her Nana did of making each person she talks with feel special and truly “listened to.” She’s really looking forward to making friends for Flaxie Packs on the craft show circuit this Fall and Winter.
Hope to see lots of you local friends at Colorfest! Stay tuned for info on the craft shows where you can stop by and say hello to us!
